  • Does a standard 110/120-volt household outlet have enough power to charge an electric vehicle?

Yes, the truth is electric vehicles are designed to charge with any 110/120V, 15-amp or 110/120V, 20-amp circuit, but it will take considerably longer than with a 220/240-volt charging station.

  • What does the installation of 220/240-volt chagrining station require?

It's recommended that a charging station is professionally installed by a licensed electrician. It often requires permits and inspections from the city. Each installation is unique depending the specific installation requirements and charger location.

  • How much does it cost to charge an electric vehicle at home?

With the average cost of electricity in the US being 12 cents a kWh and lets assume a person drives their electric vehicle 1,250 miles a month, they would end up paying about $45.00 per month to keep it charged. Keep in mind that the cost of electricity can vary greatly between states and this is just an estimate.

  • I don't have a garage or outlet near my vehicle, can I still get the benefits of an electric vehicle?

Of course you can, but we will need to run new wires and possibly upgrade parts of your electrical system to handle the new load. Just keep this in mind as it will add to the overall installation costs.

  • What should I look for when choosing an Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE)

Consider buying an EVSE that can handle at least 30amps. It's always a good idea to use a 30 amp service that will give you about 30 miles more of range in an hour. 15 amps will only net about 15 miles in one hour of charging. Also note a 30amp charging station will require a minimum of a 40amp circuit breaker.
